That's great for you, but since people wanted this as Gaile pointed out, it's obviously worth something to someone. Just because you don't find something of value doesn't mean it won't have value.

This opportunity cost can be translated to money, and is the reason I didn't buy the full version of Factions at this point. Paying $40 is worth more to me than spending the time grinding skills when a new chapter is about to be released.

I'm glad to see this addition. I would have liked for it to be a little cheaper, but that's just me. I can understand the price being what it is, though. I've had first hand experience seeing how unpopular* this idea is. I attribute this to certain chunks of Guild Wars' userbase being on opposite ends of a seesaw. All taking turns screaming "This is an outrage!" at each other on the forums.

You can get the game for probably 40 bucks now, and aren't pvp unlocks only like 10 bucks anyway? I think the price is probably a ripoff, but since I own both games and will own nightfall, I can't complain. This is something that doesn't effect me or 99% of the GW population in any way, shape, or form, so if people want to shell out 40 bucks for this, then they can go right ahead.

This differs in two major ways from the previous pay to unlock platform.
While I did say I would like it cheaper, it is now a -steal- compared to what it was earlier.
1) It was something like 10-20 dollars per profession before. Now it is 40 dollars and it unlocks all skills of every profession in that chapter.
2) Previously you had to own the corresponding chapter to buy the unlock packs. Now you can buy the PvP Pack without previously owning that chapter.
So isn't doesn't cost more than 100 bucks to unlock all the skills in a -single chapter- without touching PvE, it is merely 40 dollars with the stipulation that the characters you make for that chapter can be PvP only. Assuming that you do not later buy the regular package to be able to access it. Which I'm sure would work fine for Anet since you basically end up paying them 90 for one chapter.

For that, it's not over priced at all, and in fact, the cost is right in line with what many players commented would be the correct price to pay.

Indeed it is, and much appreciated! I certainly will be purchasing a PvP edition in addition to my existing account.

Bold statement considering the PvP edition with unlocks has long been very highly requested by the PvP community, with a poll showing that about $40 was a fair price for it.
(And by 'bold', I of course mean 'stupid'.)

Companies want to make money. Last I checked Anet wasn't a charity, giving to needy gamers. They has a marketable product in the form of this PvP edition, they would be silly not to charge for it.

Some people don't enjoy grinding skill unlocks. Some people want to cut straight to the endgame PvP content. If you have so much worthless free time, or enjoy the grind so much, fine. Please don't assume that everyone else is in the same boat.

Only concern I have is the the Factions only gives access to 6 out of the 8 profession skill sets:
Says the same on both EU and US pages
No Assassin or Ritualist skills then?

Since your Nightfall Heros can use any unlocked skill on your account, if you bought the PVP pack and added it to a full account for Nightfall, would this then give your PVE heros absolutely every skill in the game without you doing anything at all to get them?
I am not sure how I feel about this at the moment.

I think its a good deal. If you were to but the full game @ $50, then the unlock pack @ $40 to get all the skills plus access to the assassin and ritualist it will cost you $90. The PvP pack gives you access to the assassin and ritualist and all Factions skills unlocked @ $40. Seems like a deal to me!

Talk about way to expensive, for just ten bucks more you could buy the entire game.
I'd say they should reduce this price to around 25 dollers, mostly because I'm a money-grubber....
Nobodies going to pay 40 bucks for the PvP version, when they could buy the entire game for 10 dollers more, its almost a waste of money.

It sounds fair enough. I don't have too much problem with the cost, it is about right for all of the unlocks and the PvP content. I think this idea is far better than the previous and highly overpriced pvp unlock packs. At least now you also get the PvP content with the skills. My only concern about this new offer is whether or not it unlocks the runes and weapon mods.
My biggest gripe however is this: The people who would pay for this (heavy pvp players) ALREADY have prophecies and factions unlocked. So this really doesn't do much for them. If Anet was to release a Nightfall version of this on the day of the Nigthfall release it would sell like hotcakes. But I don't think they will do that because they want to sell more copies of the regular game. So for those hardcore pvp players who requested this, it doesn't add anything for them because they will still have to grind through Nightfall.

True enough. As I see it, this PvP editions mainly benefit completely new players who are only interested in PvP and wish to skip at least some of the grind (grind which was quite likely the reason they didn't purchase the games in the first place).
Anyone able to report whether the Factions pack gives access to the Factions PvP areas?

Choice is indeed good and I'd rather choose to have a PvE Edition which doesn't have all the nerfs in it to balance PvP which screw up the PvE game.
